My son and I talk often about the fantastic trip we had with you on the Grande Ronde!! The three days of spectacular scenery, great fishing, gourmet food and a relaxed time with wonderful companions were special. We want to thank you for a well organized, totally enjoyable trip.
This is a great way for you to become an active participant in
your vacation. Our Learn to Row whitewater rafting adventures will put you behind the
oars of one of our new 12 foot rafts. The owners and rafting guides at Winding
Waters River Expeditions have been teaching guests to row in whitewater for a combined
35 years. As members of the Association of Experiential Education,
we believe in and practice learning through experience. We firmly believe
the best way to learn is by doing.
As you row your raft down the river you will also discover things about
yourself that can only be learned when you place yourself into a new and
exhilarating environment. We have had great fun and success over the years
teaching beginners and those with some river experience how to row. You
will become empowered as you safely guide your own craft through many exciting whitewater rapids. Working together to safely move down the river, guests
gain a powerful knowledge of teamwork, cooperation and communication. The
“Learn-to-Row Adventure” is a great way to reconnect with self,
friends, family and new friends met on the river because of our unique 2
passenger rafts. You will share your raft with one other person and
trade both rowing responsibility and partners throughout the trip. There
is something powerful and comforting about learning a new and challenging
skill with another person. Great bonds are formed through this time learning
together.
Each Learn-to-Row rafting trip begins with thorough on-shore instruction followed by
on-water
practice and continued on-water instruction from our professional and experienced
guides. We offer daily instructional sessions discussing rowing
techniques, water hydraulics, reading river currents, river safety, and
communication. Our guides also teach about the local natural and cultural
history.
This is a great adventure for the entire family. We always have room on our guide boats for those who would prefer it. Young children (ages 6 and up) love to pile on the guide boat to watch their parents “shooting” the rapids. Learn to row with Winding Waters River Expeditions.
