You will experience good 'ole southern hospitality and
food that consistently exceeds the definition of "camp food". Winding Waters River Expeditions
is renowned for our delectable, healthy menu. We begin each river morning with fresh coffee (Ethiopian Blend) from Hood River Coffee Company, juice, and an assortment of teas. For breakfast, feast on french toast, locally-raised bacon, scrambled fresh eggs, fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, sausage,
omelettes to order, and a side of fresh rainbow trout
are commonplace breakfast items on our trips. Our turkish breakfast with fresh, local hard-boiled eggs, greek olives, fresh mozzarella, local tomatoes, fresh bread, cucumbers, and fresh fruit is a guest favorite.
Lunch items include chicken caesar wraps, greek tabouli salad, hearty "big as your head" sandwiches, and fresh-baked cookies. For dinner, feast on entrees
like
the "best hamburger you will ever have" made of locally raised corriente beef from 6 Ranch Corriente Cattle in Wallowa County, Chef’s Special seafood pasta with shrimp, scallops, and fresh
basil, or a Thai green curry with chicken. Sides include items like sweet potato mashers,
a fresh salad of locally grown organic greens with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette,
wild rice, and fresh bread from our local bakery. For dessert, enjoy dutch-oven specialties like pineapple
upside-down cake and triple-fudge brownies. In addition
to these meals, we also cater to the needs of vegetarians and others
with special menu considerations.
We always have plenty of ice for all beverages and will keep all of your beverages cold. Additionally, we are happy to provide
“kid friendly meals” such as burgers, hot dogs, or peanut butter and jelly. Let us know your favorites.
We support the sustainable practice of local food production. We are fortunate to have great local suppliers for our salad greens, eggs, granola, and some of our meats (grass-fed beef and pork, when available). Through purchasing food from local producers, we know the quality and care taken in production, and gain a closer connection with our watersheds. And darn it, local foods just taste good! Here are a few of the local and regional businesses we support:
