Wallowa River Steelhead Creel Report
Sorry for the gap in reports. I have been out of town for a few days. The beautiful Steelhead above was caught on Friday the 18th on the Wallowa River by Tom’s client. As you can see the weather cooperated and the river shaped up for them. Tom also fished on Saturday and Sunday and got skunked. The bite was off. The Steelhead are in there but they just weren’t biting over the weekend. Crazy weather patterns, full moon who knows. The Hatchery at Big Canyon reported over 400 fish coming in on St Patricks day. That is a pretty good sign that the fish are in there and just waiting to be caught.
I drove up the river yesterday on my way back from the coast and found the river to be a bit high and off color. We had a huge snowstorm over the weekend that is now melting into the river. If we can get a few cold days to bring this flow down I think the fishing will be off of the charts. Tom will be back down there tomorrow and I will let you know what he finds.
I just got the Creel Report for March 21st. Still looking very positive.
