Back From the Road and ready to Fish
Well, sorry to leave this report swinging in the breeze. Pen, Linden and I have been on the road for the past month. Missing out on some great days of fishing along with some not so great days of fly fishing. We have definitely entered the Slow time of year for Fly Fishing for Steelhead on the Grande Ronde. We will begin looking toward the Wallowa and its’ easily accessible water.
A quick recap of the last month. Tom had some good fishing the first few weeks of November. One of those days is shown in the photos above. Then the Cold came in freezing the river and making fishing nearly impossible. The thaw came along with some high and off colored waters in both the Wallowa and Grande Ronde Rivers. Just this past weekend we saw the Grande Ronde River spike overnight from 1400 ish up to over 3000cfs. The air temps have cooled to the teens overnight which has helped to begin bringing these flows back to a fish able level.
Tom and I have plans on getting down to the Wallowa this weekend to probe the waters to see what the Steelhead are doing down there. I will keep you posted.
Stay tuned for some more frequent updates to this post.
